Carlisle Elite
A Coveted Top 10 ‘Friday Only’ Award from Carlisle Events
A Coveted Top 10 ‘Friday Only’ Award from Carlisle Events
The Carlisle Elite is an award from Carlisle Events that was introduced in 2008. Performance & Style was the first show to offer this coveted award and it was overwhelmingly well received. The first 10 vehicles selected braved the chilly, wet weather and everyone said it was worth it! The Carlisle Elite was so popular in 2008 because of the recognition that the cars received and the microphone time, which gives owners a chance to share stories about their cars. Make sure you arrive early Friday to be eligible for this great award and prize pack.

Drifting / Autocross
Slide and race around Carlisle’s tight track
The drift track at Carlisle is challenging to say the least. It’s really set up to be a short SCCA Autocross track and we brought in local legend Mike Swartz a couple years ago to see if drifting was possible and he was able to link turns and that lead us into the drifting era. In 2007 it was by invitation only and in 2008 we opened the track to anyone willing to sign their life away on our waiver. This proved to make for some interesting track time, some people were ok and some struggled. Nonetheless, everyone had a good time drifting, autocrossing or just taking it all in. Last year we also built a new observation deck at the top of the hill which proved to be the hot viewing spot. If you want to get some track time in 2009, visit the NICOclub forum for a complete list of rules or stop by their tent at the entrance to the track during the show.

NICOfest
Nissan Infiniti Car Owners
The group known as NICO (Nissan Infiniti Car Owners) will once again be a huge part of Performance & Style hosting their Spring NICOfest. NICO manages the drift/autocross track in addition to bringing an awesome range of vehicles to the showfield. If you have a Nissan, Infiniti or Datsun you cannot miss this aspect of P&S!

ICE House / Club Carlisle / Building Y – you fill it
Two Buildings of the HOTTEST rides and one up for suggestions
P&S will have three buildings full of the hottest, sickest and most wicked cars, trucks and SUVs. The ever popular ICE House will be back under the grandstand; Club Carlisle will be jammin’ all weekend; and Building Y is open for suggestions. The ICE House will as always be filled with some of the most remarkable displays of in-car entertainment. Vehicles with 100’s of TV’s, gaming systems, fog machines, lights and anything else you can imagine will be on display. For the extra touch of iced out class, we will have a car shaped ice sculpture. Club Carlisle was a new twist to the NCCA Top Flight display in 2008 and it was such a hit that we will be cranking it up for 2009. The track lighting will illuminate the cars with just enough glow to make the vehicles pop, with just enough darkness to have a da club feel. Street Trenz Magazine will bring some excitement to the stage with a model search, hip-hop battle and a DJ spinning all-weekend long. Building Y on the other hand is still open for suggestions! I have a few ideas on what I’d like to see in the building, but what do YOU want to see. Email me at Rich@CarlisleEvents.com with the subject line: Building Y and tell me what you want to see in the building. Keep in mind, the building holds a maximum of 14 vehicles. Think outside the box, if you want to see something other than cars, hit me up!

Top Flight “Elite 50”
The top NCCA car’s showed up in Carlisle
The NCCA (National Custom Car Association) Top Flight portion of the show is where you find the best of the best. This portion of the show is indoor, filling our buildings with amazing custom rides that I can only say I’m glad I don’t need to judge! This double point event draws in some of the east coasts heavy hitters like New Image Motorsports, WR Team and Emotions – last year NIM took home awards for best results and most participation with 16 registered vehicles.
To make sure you don’t miss the action and to guarantee an indoor spot for 2009 make sure you register early for the NCCA Top Flight. Indoor space is limited to the first 50; remaining vehicles will be outside of the buildings. Vehicles going inside need to arrive on Thursday or Friday by 1 PM and stay in the building until Sunday after the awards (approximately 3 PM).

2009 Showfield Judging
Drive-thru judging with Sunday reevaluation
In 2008 we tried a new format to the showfield judging process based on suggestions by some of the participants. We conducted the regular drive-thru judging on Saturday and on Sunday we had a reevaluation of the top 5 scoring vehicle in each class. This worked very well and with a few minor tweaks we’re confident this system will be flawless for 2009. Please check out the new format to see the few tweaks we made to the process. The biggest change is that we will NOT make exceptions to the 11:00 AM deadline to be in the Winner’s Circle Sunday morning.

dB Drag/Bass Race
Premier Format for SPL Competitions
dB Drag Racing and Bass Race are two of the premier formats for SPL competitions and P&S will again have them booth thumping all weekend long. dB Drags pose two vehicles head-to-head to see who has the loudest stereo. Bass Race is a head-to-head stereo competition where competitors play commercially available music for 30 seconds and are given an average SPL score. This score places the competitor in 1 of 6 classes. The class is determined by score; classes are NOT determined by equipment, vehicle, competitor status, installation or manufacturer (making it perfect for the first timer). Competitors compete against each other with similar scores. Check out the link below for more details and rules:

Burnout Contest
Smoke, flames – what more do you need
No Carlisle show would be complete without the lighting it up. We will have 10 competitors trying to smoke’em till they pop, to gain the title of “Carlisle King of the Hill.” This year we’ll have a non-street legal exhibition category! And we’ll have Russ from the Carlisle maintenance staff show off his skills with our Honda CBR powered golf cart – yeah, we like to build fun stuff in the off-season!

Mothers Day
Honoring all mothers who spend the day with us
All mothers in attendance receive a carnation just before the awards parade starts at 2:30 PM. With P&S falling on Mother’s Day we will again honor the mother’s who spend their special day with us.
|
Bikini Contest
Girls! That’s all I really want, Girls!
Mike D says it best! We listened to the classic and will deliver the hotties! So we’ll put the beautiful ladies on the stage Saturday evening in the time-honored car show tradition. Ladies, compete for a cash purse and guys, cheer on your favorite because crowd response is what determines the winner.

Neon Contest
Lighting up the Carlisle skies
One of the most popular parts of P&S has become the Carlisle Neon Contest on Saturday night. As the sun sets we have the cars flip the switches on to light up the night with a colorful glow. Make sure you don’t miss it.

Vendors / Manufacturers Midway
Shop till you drop
If you’re like most of us you probably have a garage full of parts you don’t need any more. Why not bring them to the show and sell them? Our vending spaces are only $90 and who knows, what you might think is junk could be that one piece someone else is searching for. Don’t have anything to sell? Make sure you meander your way through the vendors to look for the parts and accessories you need. You never know what you’ll find. Good news is that if you don’t find it in the swap meet, you’ll find plenty of new parts on the Manufacturers Midway.
|
Dyno
Test your horsepower
Do you think you’re putting 300hp to the wheels? Don’t question it - find out on the dyno. The dyno is a Carlisle staple and is constantly drawing a crowd of people and a line of cars to show off the performance mods they’ve performed. See what you’ve got!

Food Concessions
Carlisle prides itself on its selection of food
One of the things that Carlisle prides itself on is the selection of food at the Fairgrounds. If you’re hungry when you leave here it’s your own fault. With Big Smokies, funnel cake, fries, bacon & eggs for breakfast, pizza, soft pretzels, chicken fingers and much more at reasonable prices, it is impossible not to find something you like. We hope you enjoy!

Calling All Clubs
Bring it on!
I am throwing a personal challenge out to car clubs to beat ME. Not with a stick, but I will put together a Carlisle team to play Volleyball and on Saturday afternoon we’ll be looking for challengers. Gather your team of 5 people and visit Rebecca to sign up at Guest Services (next to the stage) and we’ll see what you’ve got. The winner’s will get prizes and we’ll all have some fun!
Clubs…do you know about our Club Tent program? Make sure you check it out! Click the link below.
